HIM

Zitat von maestro am 6 Juli, 2004, 1631 UhrHey guys!
Just thought I would leave you all a little message to promote a Finnish band called HIM. They have been quite popular in Eastern Europe for a few years now, and have just made it big in the UK. They are currently trying to make their name in the US. They make a very unique style of music. My boss at work compares the vocal style to a version of Robert Smith from the Cure. The lyrics are mainly about Love but with the problems one encounters with the subject. If you are interested in melodic goth rock, I recommend you check them out:

His CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) jackass style skate movies featured the band heavily. Also Bam's brother's band CKY too.
I do like 'em, but like Mr Manson they suffer from the fact their cover versions rock muchly (Solitary Man, Don't fear the Reaper) but their actual music isn't all that great. Burried alive by love has to be my fave.
I did see them last year during their lower-key tour of the UK[1]. Wasn't that impressed with them live it was just like sticking on the CD, the support (can't remember who) were very good though. See they are back touring the UK again, have proper professional looking posters now... ooooooo.

[1] Why is it most of the bands these days come around twice in a short space of time? HIM, Linkin Park, SOiL, Adema, Nickleback .. all came and did a tour that stopped at the Academy or the Uni (our smaller venues) adn then came back a second time upgraded to the Academy or the MEN Arena ... marketing men squeezing out more money methinks?

Zitat von thesunsetter am 4 August, 2006, 0606 UhrI love Greatest Lovesongs Vol.666, proper gothic rock, then Razorblade Romance was a good album but the image they used i didn't like, too much exposure of Ville, then Deep Shadows was amazing, however when Love Metal came out it had a few good songs but other than that commercialism took over, I seen them on the And Love Said No tour, and Ville just drank and smoke his voice away during the gig. They're way too commercial now, the majority of their fanbase is just some kids who only have Love Metal and And Love Said No, notice how i didn't mention Dark Light atall, need i say more...
