Ok… I havent been on here as long as some and longer than others.. 😉
and I have come to realize that every chat request turn down … 😀
or ignoring posts are par for the course here.. and not in anyway evident of a insult to me or what I have to say… which is a big discovery for me and rather interesting..
perhaps all sites are like this…. I dont know… this is the only one I have been active in..
and I have come to realize this site has a life of it’s own.. like a living, breathing creature..
that feeds upon the energy, pain and pleasure of its members.. 😈
So why is everyone going away?? I can feel this rather strongly….. and I’m wondering
WTF…… I know we are most in different time zones..lol
and we all have lives outside the site… but we all must feed the beast if its going to survive…
I have been sitting at home with a leg injury for 2 weeks.. lol perhaps that is making me all mushy and weird… some stir crazyiness… but whatever,… I think it needs to be said..
so I’m not changing this too much..

Well, I think you’re right on that…
But it’s just how things work… Not every topic interests you, I mean it’s better to say/write nothing than “Yes, I think so too”, understand what I mean?
Take me as an example, I know the site since beginning, but I’m so ofte on the road that it isn’t possible for me to take really part of it.
It’s a shame, at least because of the fact that maestro and me are sitting so often together, discussing things happening on vtk or things to change etc.
And also for me there’s the Problem that I’m sometimes really moody, with focus on this things: forums etc. I sometimes have no clue what to write and sometimes I’m not in the mood simply to read the stuff. But I think that will change as soon as I quit my job 😉

But I think, all in all, the fluctuations on the site are quite normal, the beast will not starve…

It’s the always annoying tale of the cat biting it’s own tail: “i wont show up because you have no people in your chatroom” – well, they’ll certainly won’t become more if everyone leaves because there is no one.

Back in the day when IRC was the thing to use, i bit my arse when i scrolled up to see what happened during my idling and i saw joining people missing each other by a mere 2 minutes.

Registrations over here go up exponentially by the number of people registered.
If we had ten registered members, we never would have had 100 new registrations over that short timeframe as we had when we had 3000 “members”.

However, you can’t force people to write posts, or use the chatroom. While i personally have no clue about what the hell they’re registering their nickname for if they wont ever do anything on the site besides lurking around, i’ve also spent some painful years learning to accept it and not worry about why they don’t see that their activity would spark even more activity and make the whole thing more fun.
We have it plainly stated on the front page, what else shall we do?

I have really been pondering how to respond to this post…
but M .. you are absolutely right… and I will fall back on my spiritual if you will… 😛
feelings that there is a reason for everything.. and those that are here are meant to be , and those that disappear follow their own path….
the site is great.. I mean I havent disappeared.. lol and I have dragged, bribed , and harassed at least 8 people who are here to look at the site.. and once they do..they are hooked…
LMAO.. as I was.

I`d rather be interacting with 10 interisting members than having to deal with 500 irritatin dull dumb idiots.

If there are many people posting garbage every day then this site will lose it`s personality …. eg. the names you see next to the posts will not be as personal as they are now.

That is just my opinion. Some people may prefer the masses, but not me.
On the other hand .. 500 interisting people would be a hell of a lot better 😆

I think the character of the site as it is now will serve to keep the creeps away.
We’re clearely not a community for everyone.

My point is that more activity would bring more cool people here, out of 5000 for example, there would most likely be several hundred cool people to hang out with
