Zitat von viscious-vixen am 12 Dezember, 2005, 0218 UhrA non-gothy friend of mine recently commented on how, even though I don't look very gothy, I still class myself as one. And then asked why I did.
To give my opinion, honourable and humble as it is not, I do so because I am. My mentality, from the small age of eight has not change a great deal. I dress as I feel comfortable, which does mean that I end up only owning two white tops, one crimson shirt and one pastel blue jumper... the rest being, out and out black. This not only looks good on me, in my eyes, it is also a stylish and very decent colour for fashion, and out in public, I don't actually even see someone not wearing black unless they are a dysfunctional colour co-ordinately challenged person ( Hence the old lady in HOT PINK I saw once 😯 ).
I tend not to wear the collar, the corset, the lipstick, the chains, the cross, the boots or anything that is popularity-driven very often because I am not comfortable in these things. Apparently, because I do not wear these "must have" items, I'm not a goth. I'm merely a poseur ( sp? )and some form of hypocrite, or "gothy-kind" of person.
It comes to an end as I question quite sorely, if the Gothic Lifestyle has become so materialised.... Where has the mental state gone? Where did all the gothics go? Who had the mentality but lacked the look and still held respect?
What do you think? Now that you have mudded your way through the rant.
Am I wrong in my thoughts or do you too see the lack there-of of the mindset inside these younger generations?

Zitat von navre am 13 Dezember, 2005, 0514 UhrIt would seem that we are in similar yet opposite quandries......I do not really classify myself as a "goth" or gothic type person, yet this is what seems to be applied to me every where I go.. In confession I do for the majority of the time wear black )most of what i own( with the exception of a few red greens and greys...I spike and color my hair when I feel like It. I do so because i feel most comfortable in this fashion, and yes my clothes have all the required chains spikes and what not, I like them so what....and with all of this i still do not consider my self a goth or anything for that matter of fact. I am a person who happens to like a particular style of dress and yes the mind set.....I do not gravitate twards others simply cause of the way they look unless it happens to be that i am drunk and feeling a bit randy ) totaly diffrent situation( but it is similar thoughts and behavior that draws people together, likes and dislikes....not their style of dress....Consider this ...a rose by anyother name would not still smell just as sweet.....this is what it means to me. A rose even if it did not look ) dress ( or be named as such would stil have the same smell ) idea's ( as the rest of the flowersw in a boquet....and no self respecting florest would not put complimenting flowers in the same bunch......"if that makes sence to any one besides me " anyways i have suffered you people enough with my horibble spelling, bad grammar and errant rambeling.....till then ....later days
