Wow… we are getting our very own Body Farm right here in my town!!! 8)
For those of you who dont know what the Body Farm is, I will share a bit of background. Human bodies are placed in various situations where post mortum decay can be observed and recorded to aid police in crime investigations and to help in identification of people who die in whatever fashion. The only one in the US is located at the University of Tennesse Forensic Anthropology Center in Knoxville.
heehee… until now. 😉
Western Carolina University now has their own body farm.. this University is located about 20 min from me..
Notices were sent to the people that live in close proximity to the University of the plans for the newest 6 residents to share the area with the living. It caused a bit of a stir… but reason won out over ignorance and it appears to be in the process of actually being put in place.
I had the oppourtunity to meet the creator of the original body farm in Tennessee, when he lectured at the college about forensics.
He also did some work in identification of some of the victims of 9-11. He is a brilliant Anthropologist and a really down to earth guy. I am already looking for some sort of an internship or some way to be a part of this.. preference goes to Anthropology students of course , which I am not.
Perhaps , I can still get in on this.. I will keep you posted.

You should nickname.. It is great field to be in .. and I like dead people soo much more than most alive ones… 😈 lmao. and you can make good money too…
I could never be a nurse… THAT job would be tough I think.. I dont like to hear people screaming in pain unless I caused it… heehee… 😛

I saw a documentary about the knoxville one a few years ago, if i remember right they let arms and stuff rot in the wilderness to see how fast they are decomposed.

I really wonder who would submit his corpse to this cause, plastination or beeing cannibalised sound like worthwhile alternatives to beeing hacked apart and placed somewhere in the woods

I dont know if any one really specifically donates their corpse to the use of a body farm but I do know that the ones that are on the baody farms and other such places wind up their because they have donated their bodies to science….I would imagine that you can donate it specificly for medical research and what not but if you just put for science..then who knows where or what they will use it for ……

i watched a documentry about the body farm as well. A lot of their bodies come from angry relatives, wives that hate their dead husbands and kids that hate their folks, all that kind of thing. They give the bodies to the body farm and saves on forking out for an expensive funeral, after all, why would you want to spend loads of money you can’t even stand.
As a side note: I’d donate my body so that i could rot happily in nature’s glory, just as the good lord intended. 😆

Looking at it from that perspective the whole thing sounds pretty reasonable

In fact there should be body farms all over the place. I’m also strongly for active body farming where people that piss me off get sucked off the streets by giant orange garbage disposal tanks, just to be automatically sawn to small pieces and fed to the bushes.

You could be on to something. I may fork out for a truck, kit it out with the required equipment, and then offer my services to anybody that’s ever had someone piss them. Kind of like being a hitman but on a much larger scale.

This is much more practical than having a concrete cube manufacturing space station you can sms-order to bombard a certain place with cubes. Though that would undeniably have more glamour onto it
