Well the Lady V has an Alice inspired costume sorted which she described as "slutty" (w00t!). So that leaves me thinking about sorting some sort of Mad Hatter thing, but I know apathy will rule and I'll just slum around in my normal clothes.

Obvious answer is Slimelight, but if I remember right you need two members to sign you in, not sure if that is still the case but there's PLENTY of London based goth mailing lists where you should be able to find friendly folk to get you in. It'll be a certainty that they'll have some sort of Halloween thing on. Another good hang out is the Devonshire arms, also known as the Dev, not sure where it is, but get your ass down to Camden market, should be plenty of goth stalls with folks you can talk to and ask about the scene, most are a friendly bunch.

London is one of only a handful of places in the UK with a strong Goth scene where you'll be spoilt for choice. You're also a short train ride from a lot of other fun places. If you get into the scene and make friends, you'll find most weekends will be spent dodging train fares as you head off to some random gig/club night that you've been invited to by some random goth you talked to on the internet, to then spend the night on their sofa/floor.

i dont know if it still exists but for less mainstream fun you can always visit the Gossip's ( 69 Dean Street, Soho, London W1 ) - they had a warm welcome for a german some years ago and so they will have for a londoner ;)

on netgoth.org.uk there was a statement that you could find people to take you with them into slimelight at a certain pub, however when i was there it looked like a yuppie pub without someone wearing even black socks, so for all i can say i wouldnt trust that information.

I'm in Kent. Unfortunately. Around 26 miles from the centre of London, a good train journey and don't really know anyone around in London or nearby who would be interested in going (bleh) - As you probably know Kent's pretty much chav central, and while not everyone are chavs, it generally means there are less interesting people and fun things to do, heh..

Also yeah, I'm shy as fuck when it comes to groups of people I don't really know, but have fun times with friends (at college usually, which is quite a distance. I live in a backwoods lameass village. I want to move to London when I can afford it.. I would have a full time job now if I quit college, 2 places, good paid jobs in design and publishing that I know for sure would take me). ;) :)

but that's why the internet was invented, get on the groups, get talking to people and even though you are in Kent it shouldn't be a problem as you'll almost certainly be able to find crash space.

Besides part of the fun of clubbing is crawling out of some club in the AM, finding a greasy spoon to go get breakfast in and crashing someplace, park bench, bus shelter, train station, until the train/bus service home starts operating.
